How does the encryption work? Can Ironbound read my files?
No. We utilize standard Layer 4 TLS Passthrough. Your photos, files, and logins are encrypted on your phone or computer, and decrypted strictly on your physical Ironbound home server in your living room. Because we do not hold your cryptographic keys, it is mathematically impossible for us, AI, or corporate advertisers to read your data or scan your files.
What happens if one of the physical hard drives fails?
Your server runs on a dual-drive system with an automated, transaction-safe database backup engine. Every night at 3:00 AM, the system takes an encrypted snapshot of your databases and files and saves them to a secondary, dedicated backup drive. If your primary drive fails, your data remains fully preserved and restorable from the secondary backup.
Can I access my files remotely?
Yes, your Ironbound server establishes a secure, outbound connection to a public routing relay. This allows you to access your home cloud from any browser in the world while keeping your home router's firewall completely closed to the internet.
Are there any hidden monthly fees or subscription costs?
No mandatory monthly fees. You pay once for your physical server and own your storage forever. We do offer an optional, premium monthly support plan at checkout for fully managed remote backups and priority support, but standard usage, software updates, and end to end encrypted routing have absolutely zero required subscription costs.
